MIAMI - The heartwarming story of “Robocroc,” a severely injured American crocodile that underwent extensive surgery after a roadside accident, has ended tragically as the reptile has died.

If there's a crocodile heaven, you know Robocroc earned his entrance.

Found alongside a roadway after being hit by a car, the crocodile had suffered severe injuries, but after extensive surgery which included rebuilding the creature’s shattered skull with metal plates, screws and resin, Robocroc was said to be on the mend.

Sadly, those reports were premature. As of this morning, Robocroc is no longer among the living.
