The solution for many? According to a story in the New York Times, it’s abandoning or scuttling the boat and engaging in a little insurance fraud .

Waterways across the country are increasingly being clogged by these derelict boats and officials worry about the danger to navigation, the environment and other problems that result from the practice.

Our suggestion? If you have a boat, why not turn pirate? It’s a popular practice in Somalia, so why couldn’t it work here?
