INDIA - They’ve got our tech jobs; now they’re making our Smart cars look stupid!

India is tired of being known only as the home of Buddhism and the customer support capital of the world. Tata Motors has unveiled its Nano car, a two-cylinder, four-door family vehicle with the absurdly low retail price of $2,200. The catch is that the company plans to produce only 60,000 units for the roll out. The million or more Indian commuters hoping to buy one of the smarter than Smart cars will have their names tossed into a lottery. Lucky winners will be given the opportunity to purchase one of these 65-mile-an-hour, 47-miles-per-gallon curry-burners.

Less lucky losers can scour Sub-Asian eBay and pick up a Tata Nano with an added cool-consumer premium. Just be sure to cruise on over to BoingBoing and take those dudes for a drive.
